Privacy Policy

Peeksee exists to share cameras deliberately — with the right person, for the right window of time. That same intent shapes how we treat data: we collect what the service needs to work, we protect it, and we don't monetize it. This page explains the details in plain language.

1. Who this covers

Peeksee is used by two groups of people: businesses that share their cameras (our customers), and the people those businesses share cameras with (viewers — for example a pet owner checking on a boarding stay). This policy covers both, and we call out where they differ.

For viewers, one thing matters most: the business you visit runs the cameras. They decide what is recorded, who can watch, and for how long. Peeksee provides the pipes and enforces their choices.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, and sign-in credentials (passwords are stored only as secure hashes), plus your role in a business.
  • Business records — what a business enters to run its workspace: locations, camera names and zones, visit and stay records, and the contact details of the customers it invites.
  • Video — live streams pass through Peeksee to reach viewers, and recorded segments and preview thumbnails are stored so replay works. Retention follows the window each business configures.
  • Technical data — logs, IP addresses, browser and device information, and usage events we need to keep the service reliable and secure.
  • Marketing referrals — when you follow a Product Hunt referral link, we remember that source in a first-party cookie for up to 30 days, show a welcome message, and attach the source to inquiries or business registrations you submit in that browser. This helps us understand how people discover Peeksee; it does not track your activity on other sites.
  • Site analytics — on the public website pages (not inside the camera portals) we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive. If you visit from the UK or the European Economic Area it loads only after you allow it in the cookie banner, and you can change that choice at any time in the “Your cookie choices” section below. It sets analytics cookies in your browser and Google processes that data on our behalf. We do not send it your name, email address, or anything you type; page addresses that carry sign-in or invitation codes are reported without them, and browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal are not measured.
  • ChatGPT ad measurement — only if you explicitly allow it, we remember the ad click reference supplied by OpenAI in a first-party cookie for up to 30 days. It works across peeksee.app and our demo subdomains. When you send a new-business inquiry or start a demo, our server sends OpenAI that reference, the event time, and the type of action; demo events also identify the example and selected view. We do not send contact details, message text, IP addresses, or account credentials. Support requests and activity inside camera portals are not measured. We opt these events out of future user-level personalization. You can withdraw consent below; Global Privacy Control also disables this measurement. Your cookie choices are remembered for six months.

3. How we use it

We use this information to operate the service: brokering streams, enforcing access rules, providing replay, supporting customers, and keeping the platform reliable and secure. We do not sell personal information. We never use camera footage, business records, or viewer activity for advertising. Optional ad measurement on our marketing site is described above.

4. Video privacy

  • Streams are brokered. Viewers never receive camera addresses, credentials, or direct access to a business’s network — only a temporary, scoped viewing session.
  • Access is explicit. A viewer sees a camera only while the business has shared it with them, and only during the access window tied to their visit.
  • Recordings expire. Recorded video is kept for the retention window the business configures, then deleted.
  • Peeksee staff do not watch your cameras. We access video only when a business asks us to for support, or where the law requires it.

5. Who we share with

We share data only with the infrastructure providers we need to run the service — cloud hosting, storage, media streaming, and email delivery — under agreements that limit their use of it to providing those services to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We never sell it. Google Analytics processes public website analytics, and OpenAI receives optional ChatGPT ad conversion events as described above. Neither integration receives camera video or activity inside customer and business portals.

6. The business controls viewer data

If you are a viewer, the business that invited you decides what is recorded and shared, and Peeksee processes that data on their instructions. Requests about a specific business’s cameras or recordings — including deletion of footage — should go to that business. We help them honor those requests.

7. Retention and deletion

Account and business records are kept while the account is active. Recorded video follows each business’s configured retention window. When an account closes, or on a verified deletion request, we delete associated personal data within a reasonable period, allowing for backups that age out on their own schedule.

8. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, viewing sessions use short-lived scoped tokens, workspace access is role-based, and changes to camera access are logged. No system is perfectly secure, but the design goal throughout Peeksee is that nobody sees a camera they were not explicitly given.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@peeksee.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA — we honor verified requests regardless of geography.

10. Children

Peeksee is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Businesses are responsible for the content of the spaces they record.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post changes here, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email before they take effect.

Analytics is on by default for your region; you can decline it here.
